Tell Me Something Good

I decided to link up with Rowdy in First Grade for Tell Me Something Good.  It's so easy to whine and complain about that bad things, we don't say enough what's good!

My something good from school:

My students are learning the rules and more importantly following them!  We have had 3-4 people with a clip on Outstanding most days this week.  Tomorrow is going to be a good day at the treasure box I think!

My something food from home:

My little guy is learning more and more words and phrases.  School is going well for him and he is learning songs and to be a helper.  I am so glad he is adjusting!

Your turn!  Tell me something good :)

Apples!

Next week we will begin our unit on apples.  We are going to have an apple tasting on Friday where the students will try apple slices, apple juice, apple jelly and apple cereal.

Parent Reminder: Confirmation notes were sent in the folders yesterday and all items are due on Monday! :)

I just posted my apple unit for sale on TpT.  I hope some of you can use it!

Curriculum Night

Last night was our curriculum night!  Curriculum night is a time for us to briefly overview classroom policies, procedures, and curriculum.  I know a lot of parents are busy and not many made it, so I wanted to post a file that included what we talked about.  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Behavior Notes

You can always tell when we've had a long weekend.  It was a rough day in Kindergarten!  Although we practiced using our clip cart last week, we started our behavior calendars today.  CHAOS!  It makes it real though and it holds them accountable.  I have to tell myself, they will learn to get their calendar out of the page protector and they will learn to find the correct date on the calendar.  I decided to pull out some behavior notes today to recognize a few for their outstanding behavior and sadly to let a few parents know about consequences.  I wanted to share just in case any of you are using my clip chart and need a note.  I printed them out and ran them on colored paper and I stuck them in their folders to be signed if need be.  Hope you enjoy!  Here's to hoping tomorrow is better!

Here we go again!

Look familiar?  You may remember when I redid an old school desk for my classroom. So far, the kids LOVE the desk!  The first child sat in it last week for his birthday. We picked Laken for our terrific kid this past week and he will get to choose a day to sit in it this coming week.  When I brought the last desk home, my little one LOVED it!  I was torn between painting it for him or for my classroom, but my heart was set on painting it for the classroom, so I did with the intent to get another one.  I finally found another (for the bargain price of $8) and I picked it up yesterday.  We headed straight to Lowe's to grab some spray paint. I went with Valspar Exotic Sea.

Here's what it looks like with 1 can of spray paint.
It's about a million degrees here in NC today so I felt like I was going to pass out after I finished getting it painted, but I am resting while that coat dries and then I am heading back out to put on the second can.  I am going to paint the top with Rustoluem Chalk Board Paint.  Probably tonight.  More Pics to come!

With 2 Coats of Spray Paint :)

I  added the chalk board paint and my sweet boy's name :) I will have to add at least 1 more coat and then condition the top, but I'm pretty proud of it so far and I know it will be a hit for him!

I'm going to link up with Monday Made it at 4th grade Frolics even though I posted a little early :)

Donor's Choose

Today was a crazy busy day with all 19 of my Kinders!  I forgot how long it takes them to do everything at the beginning of the year.  I thought we were going to have to spend the night! We missed snack because they got back late from Encore, but it will be ok - tomorrow will be better!!

In other news, I am super excited because I submitted my first Donor's Choose project for wireless headphones and listening books/CDs and it was approved and is already half way funded by Kia!  If you can make a donation, we would appreciate any help you can give!

To learn more or donate:

1.     Visit my Teacher Page, www.donorschoose.org/mrspayton
2.     Choose one of my projects, enter the amount of your donation, and click "Give"
3.     During check-out, enter the word INSPIRE where it says "Match or gift code", and your donation will be matched dollar for dollar.

The INSPIRE match code will double your donation for the next 7 days.
