Spring Break Has Arrived!
Spring break....at last, you are here! Today was a crazy busy day (aren't they all!) We have been working so hard to get all of our sweet students assessed this week and thank goodness we got it done just in the nick of time. My sweet students have grown so much!
For a little fun this morning, we did some jelly bean addition.
For a little fun this morning, we did some jelly bean addition.
The students sorted their jelly beans and then filled in their worksheet with how many of each they had to complete addition sentences. They really enjoyed it and it was just another great way for us to practice addition. The best part was watching them try the jelly beans. Clearly the black and white were the worst to them! If you like this activity, it came from my Easter pack which is 1/2 off with an addition 20% off! I am having an Easter sale in my TpT store and all items are 20% off through Sunday. Stop by and grab a few things!
I hope everyone has a super Easter!

Easter Party!
Today was crazzzzzy! We had our Easter Party. The kids were excited! I am exhausted!
We started out with an Easter Egg hunt. I asked each family to send 20 prestuffed eggs in. We numbered the eggs and each student could only find their number. This is a great way to make the hunt educational, fair and also allow it to last more than 1 second.
We "hid" the eggs while the students were at the library. We had only 1 egg with no number and that was the golden egg. I put a dollar in there :)

I don't ask the students to bring baskets because they are bulky and not everyone has them, so we just give them a grocery bag with their name on it. We get them in a line so that they all start at the same time and have a chance to find the golden egg.
Hunting for their numbers...it's hard to pass all those eggs up, but they do well finding just their number and putting the rest back.
Look who found the golden egg? What was really cute, was that she couldn't reach the egg up in the tree and had to ask someone for help to get it.
Counting and sorting eggs - see I told you it was educational!
Awesome job sorting! :)
For our party, I like to have stations with the parents. It's a great way to involve the parents and let the kids enjoy having their moms (or sometimes dads) help.
Dying Easter Eggs. They get to dye and decorate their own eggs. I put them in a Ziploc bag at the end of the day and sent them home. (I pray they aren't in their book bags and made it home safely!)
Sight Word Memory
Graphing M&Ms! This came from someone's blog - I meant to look at the bottom of that worksheet, but I will add it as soon as I know where it came from.
Tissue Paper Eggs - I love a good tissue paper craft and all this tissue paper came from the Dollar Tree for just $1!
When all of that was finished, we did have food - I forgot to take a picture! We also had a special friend today, Mrs. Bales who came to read us lots of stories. The kids enjoyed her facial expressions and voices while she was reading, it was definitely a treat!
The sight word memory game & tissue paper Easter egg both came from my Easter centers pack. It is 50% off through Easter! Stop by TpT and grab your own copy!
We have 1 1/2 days until Spring Break. I can't wait to get to the beach! Happy Easter everyone!

Weather Centers & a Freebie
Miss Zripko was off to a job fair today and I got to teach the whole day! I almost forgot what it was like! We had a great day in room 201 :)
In other news, I have decided to go back to school! I signed up to take the MAT on April 3rd during Spring Break. Say a little (or big) prayer for me! I am hoping I can start with the first Summer Session on May 15th. I kind of got into this on a whim, so I am hoping everything lines up.
We've almost made it to the weekend friends - hope the rest of your week is fabulous!
I know I taught weather at the beginning of the month, but I just haven't had it in me to get my Weather packet together, but I officially posted it tonight on TpT and TN.
Since the wait was so long, here's a little freebie from the packet. ABC Order! Enjoy!

Easter's on it's way! & a Freebie!
Can you believe Easter is almost here?! I have been reading about several states who are already on Spring Break...and states that get 2 weeks off...umm I may need to move! We officially get out for Spring Break next Thursday. We have an early release and parent conferences from 3-7 Thursday and then Friday we are home free! I can not wait to enjoy some time with my own children and go to the beach!
We will be having a party next week with my wonderful parents and the students are going to dye Easter Eggs, play an Easter Sight Word Memory Game, Graph Easter M&Ms, and make a tissue paper Easter Egg. Just before they go home, we are going to have cupcakes and a few more goodies - I can't wait! Pictures to come next week :)
In the meantime, I have been hard at work creating my Easter Centers/Unit for next week. So without further ado, 101 pages of goodies!
While you are there, pick up this freebie! Addition + Write the Room = Perfect Center. I hope you enjoy!

Sneaky Leprechaun and a Giveaway
On Friday when I arrived at school, the first thing I saw was green streamers strewn all down the hallway. Clearly, the leprechaun had come for a visit in the Kindergarten hallway. I personally hadn't planned to see him until after our specials in the afternoon, but nothing like being under pressure. My oldest son and I ran in and got right to work. We had 5 minutes..this was not nearly enough time, but we got it done.
Sneaky buzzard...went in the the bathrooms! This sent the kids OVER THE EDGE. It was hysterical until someone had to go to the bathroom. I was running around like a maniac with clorox wipes trying to get it clean for them. PS the paint was still wet!
Girl's bathroom.
Boy's Bathroom
Can you tell this is glitter? If you can't, it is and it's green. I was too under pressure to get god pictures haha :)
Tissue paper everywhere, knocked over chairs, puppets all over the place. What a MESS!
A few more flipped over chairs.
I fully intended to take better pictures, but 1)I was under pressure 2) The kids were going bananas from the mess and wet paint and 3)This interrupted the bagel I was trying to eat at the time, but hey - at least I got a few :)
Now, about the giveaway....
Clearly Kindergarten has gotten 100 followers! You go girl! In honor of her 100 followers, shes having a ridiculous giveaway. I am giving away my sight words pack! Head over to enter - you don't want to miss all these goodies! There are lots of opportunities to win.
2 more weeks until Spring Break...I think I can, I think I can!

Marshmallow Clouds and Rainbows
Well, the good news is, I no longer have 234903904829308 bags of mini marshmallows, though there are some left! Here's how the clouds turned out:
We just traced a cloud on blue construction paper and they glued the marshmallows on. Simple and yet it gets that whole fluffy concept across to them.
Today we talked about rainbows. Have you heard that song on YouTube? It's a little creepy, but my kids got something out of it.

They remembered Roy G. Biv when we finished and it was quite helpful when we made our rainbows. I love making rainbows with coffee filters, markers and water. It's a little messy, but we get through it. This is how you make them.
1. Cut a coffee filter in half.
2. Use markers to color in the colors of the rainbow. It will look like this:
3. Dip a paint brush in water and drag it over each color. Remind your kids NOT to move the coffee filter around during this part or the colors get all kinds of crazy. When they finish, sit them on top of a paper towel. It looks like this:
4. At the end of the day its dry and pretty!
This really helps explain how the colors overlap and "bleed" into each other. My kids really enjoyed it - try it - yours might like it too! :)

Weather
There hasn't been much interesting to post about lately. Miss Zripko has been teaching Science/Social Studies so she's had all the fun units lately! I took back unit this week and I am doing a little Weather & St. Patrick's Day. Today we talked about all the different types of clouds (which was a learning lesson for me too!) and we made these:
Remember when we made the 100th day snack? I got about 43958340598340958 bags of mini marshmallows, so tomorrow we are going to make some clouds out of those guys. I will post a pic to let you know how it goes! :)
I will post my weather unit on TpT soon, it needs a few more things added into it.
Short, sweet & to the point. More to come on rainbows and St. Patrick's Day! :)
